This map is hosted on a remote server where boydsmaps has no control over its availability or performance. We have already discontinued our other remotely-hosted maps but will continue offering maps from USGS servers as long as they work properly at boydsmaps.
But please realize, these remotely-hosted USGS maps could be permanently discontinued at any time without notice if there are problems. Our mission is offering maps of the Northeastern United States that are hosted on our own server where we can assure their quality.
Description
The USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) Bare Earth DEM Dynamic service is based on multi-resolution USGS DEM sources and provides dynamic functions for visualization. These functions include: Hillshade, Aspect Map, Hillshade Stretched, Multi-directional Hillshade, Slope Map, Elevation Tinted Hillshade, Contour. In addition the OGC Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Coverage Service (WCS) interfaces are enabled. Data available in this map service reflects all 3DEP DEM data published as of August 13, 2020.
The dynamic platform supports the exploration of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) for the US and territories at a mixture of scales, including 1 meter DEMs. That data will continue to become increasingly available as 3DEP progresses towards its goal to complete nationwide lidar data coverage (IfSAR in Alaska) by 2023.
This aspect map imagery is a color visualization of the compass direction that a hillside or slope faces, measured clockwise in degrees from 0 (due north) to 360 (again due north).
